10 रुपये में एक एक किलो किलो डालडा और 11 में में देशी घी में तैयार मिठाई का दौर था वह। सेर व पाव को तौल होती थी। मिठाई की दो-तीन दुकानें ही थी। मिठाई के नाम पर भी बालूशाही व लड्डू आदि। बात 1960 के आस पास की हो रही है। यह जगह पैठपड़ाव व होली चौक कहलाती थी। यहीं पर मालिक राम नंद लाल की टू मेन्स नाम से दुकान थी। उनकी घी की दुकान थी। बताते हैं कि आज के सिंधी स्वीट्स वाली दुकान 1960 खोली गई है और यहां ठाकुरदास तेजवानी ने सिंधी स्वीट्स नाम से दुकान खोल ली। इसी दुकान से तब 50-60 रुपये रोजाना की बिक्री होती थी, धीरे-धीरे शहर फैला, बसासत बढ़ी और इसके बाजार का जबरदस्त विस्तार हुआ। इस पुरानी दुकान से लोगों को पर एक नाम रट गया और किस हल्द्वानी का सिंधी चौराहा कहां जाने लगा |
